SENATOR

Dino Melaye, who represented Kogi West Senatorial District before the courts voided his election, has vowed to seek redress at the election petition tribunal if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fails to review the election results.

“What we have as result is fraud... a major fraud, the November 16 election was a fraud that would not stand,” he said, adding that he has sent petitions to the effect that the earlier election was fraudulent, while “the supplementary election amounts to building something on nothing.”

INEC had declared Adeyemi winner having polled 88, 373 votes to beat his closest rival, Melaye, who scored 62, 133 votes.

But Adeyemi who addressed newsmen in Lokoja described Melaye as his ‘political boy’, saying that he was grateful to God for the victory, promising that he would never embark on anything that would tarnish the image of his constituency and the entire state.

He noted that he brought Dino up in politics, saying, “Unfortunately, he turned against him for his selfish reasons, adding that Melaye’s era at the National Assembly was a disaster to Kogi State and the nation.

“My victory shows that the people of Kogi West want progress and development.

Dino never won any election in this state,” he said, while thanking supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their support and Governor Yahaya Bello for making the party stronger in the state.”

Meanwhile, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu has congratulated Senator Smart Adeyemi on his victory at the just concluded re-run election for Kogi West Senatorial District.
