Abiodun lauds Ogun workers, plans committee on new wage

• Warns criminals to avoid state • To establish diploma-awarding school, courts at Iperu

GOVERNOR Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has commended civil servants in the state for their dedication to work.

He promised to emplace a committee to work out modalities for the implementation of the new wage. Abiodun made these declarations during a public lecture to mark this year’s Public Service Day held at Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.

The Head of Service (HOS), Lanre Bisiriyu, takes a bow from the state’s civil service next week.

“As the Head of Service takes a bow, we understand that there should be no vacuum in leadership and so very soon, we will appoint a new Head of Service that will continue on the right part of leadership in the state’s public service,” the governor said.

Abiodun, who lauded the state public servants, noted that in taking the state to a higher pedestal, the welfare of workers would continue to receive prompt attention as they are “worthy partners” in his overall development agenda for the state.

However, he has given quit notice to criminals in the state and asked those outside the state to stay away.

According to him, those who defy the warning are due for real trouble, as this administration has declared zero tolerance for criminal activities.

He gave this warning in his office at Oke-mosan, Abeokuta, while playing host to the new Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson.

His words: “As a gateway state, bordering some states and a neighbouring country, this comes with advantages and disadvantages. It means that criminals also go through our state. We will continue to be innovative and very intolerant to crimes and criminalities in this state.”

Meanwhile, a diploma-awarding vocational and technical training institution is to be established in Iperu, Ikenne Council by the state government.
