Aformer Commissioner of Police (CP) in Lagos State, Imohimi Edgal, has resumed as the 29th CP in Akwa Ibom with a promise to entrench visibility and community policing to reduce crime in the state.
He made the pledge in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state Police Command, SP Odiko Macdon in Uyo.
The
(NAN) reports that Macdon said Imohimi took over from Kenneth Ebrimson, who was posted to the state barely a week ago, but had been redeployed, adding that the new CP has a legacy of using community policing to tackle crime in Ogun State, his former command.
“The Commissioner of Police, who is a reputable administrative and an operational fellow, has promised to entrench visibility and community based policing in line with international best practices, to reduce crime to the lowest level in the state.
“Imohimi, whose legacies precedes him as a community policing advocate, is reputed for mobilising a joint security operation which, to a large extent, tackled the deadly Badoo cult, known for killing several persons in Ikorodu and Ogijo areas of Lagos and Ogun states,” Macdon said. According to him, the new police boss holds a Masters
Degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos, a BA degree in History from the University of Jos and a Diploma in Police Science.
He also said Imohimi was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on the February 1, 1986, adding that the he had served the force meritoriously in various capacities within and outside the country.
