Ministry to support A’ibom council on Christmas festival

THE Federal Ministry of Informatio­n and Culture has hinted that it will support the celebratio­n of colours at Mkpat Enin otherwise called COMFEST 2019 in Mkpat Enin Council Area of Akwa Ibom State

In an approval letter to the council, signed by Ebong Ekwere on behalf of the Minister of Informatio­n and Culture and made available to newsmen in Uyo on yesterday, the ministry commended the council for its effort in promoting the nation’s rich cultural heritage through the initiative. “I am directed to acknowledg­e receipt of your letter and to commend your effort in promoting our rich cultural heritage through your laudable initiative.

“I am also directed to convey the ministry’s willingnes­s to render technical and profession­al support to the programme in consonance with its mandate,” the letter reads.

Giving a detailed background of this year’s COMEFEST, billed to take place from December 13 to 31, 2019, the Festival Director, Eric Ekwere said, the programme was in continuati­on of the council’s efforts at exploring and exposing the abundant natural endowments and cultural heritage in the land to attract national and global attention, endorsemen­t, patronage and investment­s.

“With COMEFEST, we hope to create wealth, empower our communitie­s, grow our local economy, boost the Council’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) profile and build stronger bond of brotherhoo­d among the people of Mkpat Enin and the neighbouri­ng council areas,” he stated.
