- By Daniel Anazia

CONTRARYTO projections of gloom in the entertainment sector owing to the economic impact of Coronavirus ( COVID- 19) pandemic, an upwardly mobile entertainment outfit, Labo Entertainment, has offered ray of hope to one of Nigeria’s popular music stars.

The outfit, which has primary interests in real estate and automobile, has rolled out plan to help talented singer, Dotman whose real name is Olatunji Oladotun Alade release his long- overdue debut album.

After initial setbacks with his previous management, the singer who is known for his 2016 hit song, Akube like any of his contemporaries has nursed a desire to release a body of work. The rapper, who has put in over six years in the music business has churn out hits and collaborations with top acts including Davido, 9ice, Mr Eazi, DJ Spinall, DJ Exclusive, DJ Kaywise and DJ Moh Green.

The University of Lagos graduate joined Labo Entertainment in a bid to reposition himself on the music scene. He aligned with the label, a subsidiary of Labo Group, founded by creative entrepreneur, Olabisi Akanbi, to help develop and promote his talent to a global audience.

With the deal sealed last month, both parties have set in motion the build- up to the release of the soon- to- be unveiled debut album. The singer had some days ago, released the video of his latest hit song, Enugbe, which is getting air rotation on major satellite music stations. Speaking on why Labo Entertainment signed Dotman, Akanbi said, “We are excited to align ourselves with a very talented and creative artiste like Dotman who is one of the hottest young musicians in Nigeria.”

“With the benefit of my long term experience in the game, I am excited that we will make a big impact this time around. That’s what I want to achieve with the young and talented singer, Dotman. He has a hunger to go global and that’s something we both share in common,” he added.

Akanbi noted that some of Nigeria’s biggest talents are on the streets and not on the stage, and his goal is to discover and develop such talents for a global audience, stressing that the Nigerian entertainment industry has gone far beyond imagination.

“For an artiste with a great work ethics like Dotman, working with him has been very promising. We would have love to roll out with much activation but due to the COVID- 19 pandemic, we had to strategise to focus on digital release alone for now at a date we will announce soon.”
