Uzodinma Assures PDP Defectors Of Equal Treatment In APC

- From Charles Ogugbuaja, Owerri

IMO State Governor Hope Uzodinma has assured all the defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) to the All Progressives Congress ( APC) that they would be treated the same way as the old members.

The APC governor, who received them on Thursday evening at the Sam Mbakwe Expanded Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Owerri, described their action as home- coming, advising them to contribute their quota to the growth of the ruling party and his administration in Imo.

He added that his administration’s mantra of “Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery emphasised that when the state is recovered, the benefit will be for everyone.”

Calling for the unity of the political class, irrespective of party leaning, Uzodinma urged the new entrants to be patient.

According to him, all the looted state’s resources would be recovered and used for the benefit of Imo people.

The defectors had been received at the APC party secretariat in the state by the chairman, Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo.

While presenting them to the governor, Nlemigbo said that his administration prompted the defectors to switch over.

The defectors led by the immediate past state chairman of PDP, Charles Ezekwem, noted that almost all the executive members of the main opposition party in the state resigned their positions and emptied into the APC, identifying with the leadership qualities of Uzodinma.

He assured him of 100 per cent loyalty, commending the governor for the appointments made so far.

In his speech, the South East Zonal Chairman of APC, Chief Emma Eneukwu, said he accompanied the defectors to the governor to reassure them of recognition, informing them that progress would be the lot of the state.
