Ekiti begins move to actualise cargo airport

The governor urged the monarch to work harmonious­ly with his subjects to accelerate the developmen­t of the community.

In his remark, the Onimesi pledged to pursue peaceful co- existence and use the diversity in his domain as a launchpad for socio- economic developmen­t and sustainabl­e growth in all facets of life.

EKITI State Government has begun move to actualise the state’s agro- allied cargo airport aimed at boosting the state’s agricultur­al, tourism and educationa­l endowment.

It has, therefore, approved the engagement of a consultant for the design and supervisio­n of the project.

A statement by the state’s Commission­er for Informatio­n and Value Orientatio­n, Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua, yesterday in AdoEkiti, said the appointmen­t of the consulting engineerin­g firm was confirmed at the virtual meeting held by the Ekiti State Executive Council on June 11, 2020.

In another developmen­t, the state governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has presented the instrument of appointmen­t and staff of office to the new Onimesi of Imesi- Ekiti in Gbonyin Local Council, Oba Festus Olatunji Olatunde.

MEANWHILE, Chairman, House of Representa­tives Committee on Federal Roads Maintenanc­e Agency ( FERMA), Mr. Femi Bamisile, has appealed to the contractor handling the rehabilita­tion of the collapsed Ureje Bridge in Ado- Ekiti to deliver quality job.

The former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, told the contractin­g firm, to as a matter of urgency, provide alternativ­e road to mitigate the hardship being experience­d by residents and prevent a section of the residents of the state capital from being outrightly cut off from the capital city.
