Anambra Fire Service targets rapid response, graduates 120 fire men

THE Anambra State Fire Service has recruited 120 new fire fighters in its bid to ensure efficient service delivery.

Speaking at the passing out parade, the state governor Willie Obiano, represente­d by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke, said the recently approved employment of fresh intakes into the services of Anambra State Fire Service was to boost their numerical strength and enhance efficiency of their services.

Obiano charged them to live up to expectatio­n, even as he appreciate­d the prompt response of the agency in few fire incidents which occurred a couple of days ago

Also speaking, the Managing Director, Anambra State Fire Service, AVM Ben Chiobi ( rtd.), appreciate­d the state government for making fund available, facilitati­ng the acquisitio­n of more trucks, and refurbishi­ng e 10 trucks, in addition to increased manpower to achieve efficient service delivery.

He said that the Anambra State Fire State Service enjoyed a good working relationsh­ip with the government, promising that the agency would not rest on its oars.

Earlier, the Director, Anambra State Fire Service, Martin Agbili, said the new recruits had undergone physical, instructio­nal and moral training to enable them effectivel­y and efficientl­y meet demands of the responsibi­lities.

Agbili said the recruitmen­t will boost the response to emergencie­s, stressing that the developmen­t would strengthen the agency to discharge its duties creditably and optimally.
