Homeboy On Mission To Advance Auto Industry
FOUNDER and Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of Bisimoto, a U. S. based automobile company, Ndubuisi Ezerioha, is making Nigeria proud on the global stage. Notwithstanding the comatose state of Nigeria’s auto industry, Ezerioha has conspicuously hoisted the country’s flag in the global automobile space with his design of the fastest carbureted front- wheel car in the world, a Hyundai Sonata. The car has been recognised as the most powerful Sonata sedan in history with a record of 888hp, much greater than the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. The vehicle was the fastest street- driven, all- motor D- series of its time clocking in with mid- 12s at 107 mph.
A chemical engineer by training, Ezerioha hails from Obodoukwu in Imo State. His father, Dr. Emesia Ezerioha, holds bachelors degrees in Earth Sciences and Geology from California State University, Los Angeles; master’s degrees in Earth Systems Science as well as Economics and a Ph. D. in International Marketing. Bisi developed a keen interest in chemistry while in secondary school in Nigeria. The 48- year- old attended Anambra State University of Technology, where he studied petrochemical engineering. He later moved to Cerritos College, California, in the
United States of America, where he graduated with an honours associate degree in Applied and Natural Sciences. He thereafter proceeded to California State University, Long Beach, where he obtained bachelor and master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and Engineering Management, respectively.
His present feat in the auto industry was the outcome of many years of curiosity about what powers automobiles. So, after his studies, he began tinkering with building of car engines. In 1994, he founded Bisimoto Engineering to test and bring his engine designs to life. His early accolades included building the most powerful naturally- aspirated SOHC Honda engines involving the D16A6, D15B7, F22A, F18A and D16Z6.
Bisi, as he is also called, demonstrated through his unique designs that even less popular engines could reliably produce significant amounts of power. He expanded his innovations into the turbocharged market with a 700hp 1.6L SOHC powered Honda Civic Wagon, 533hp LEA1 1.5L CR- Z Hybrid, a 1000+ hp Honda Odyssey, a 602whp Hyundai Elantra GT, and many high HP twin- turbocharged Porsche 911s.
By consistently creating unparalleled automotive masterpieces, Ezerioha has led his firm to become one of the most recognised engine design and tuning houses in the world.
