FOLLOWING the release of the soundtrack list set to accompany the part two of the iconic film, Coming 2 America, by Def Jam Africa, an arm of world leading music- based entertainment, Universal Music Group ( UMG), all is clear that some of Nigeria’s biggest music stars will feature in the Rhythms of Zamunda inspired album compilation.

The soundtrack list, which was officially released last weekend, boasts of some of Africa’s biggest stars like Tiwa Savage, Tekno, Larrygaaga ( Nigeria), Nasty C, Prince Kaybee ( South Africa), Fally Ipupa ( Congo), Diamond Platnumz ( Tanzania), Sha Sha ( Zimbabwe) and Gemini Major ( Malawi) among others.

Fans had received the exciting trailer for the sequel earlier this month. The music project it is gathered will drop when the highly anticipated second part of the iconic movie premieres on Amazon Prime on March 5 — three decades after the first part.

While the film's I'm a King soundtrack features Megan Thee Stallion and Bobby Sessions, the 16- track album it was learnt was inspired by the Black Panther themed compilation album, which was a fusion of American hip- hop and a number of different African genres.

The opening track of the album is Nasty C and Ari Lennox’s Black and White, whose romantic music video was released on Monday, February 15.

Speaking about the album, Universal Music South Africa and Sub- Saharan South Africa CEO, Sipho Dlamini, said: “We wanted to bring our knowledge of the music from the continent that is coming up and affecting the youth globally — it’s not just Afrobeat.”

“Much like the movie is about America on one side and Africa, we could draw on the African genres you would expect but you also have R& B, hip- hop, house and so forth. ‘ Black and White’ is a great example. It sounds like it could have been made in a studio in the U. S., and it’s a collaboration with an American artiste, but Nasty C is as African as it gets,” he added. While the sequel stars old favourites including lead character, Eddie Murphy, Shari Headly, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones and John Amos, South Africa's Nomzamo Mbatha joins the cast as a royal groomer called Mirembe. There are also rumours of an appearance by 30 BG leader and DMW boss, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido.
