Lagos promises vaccinatio­n of only eligible persons for phase one

Urges strict adherence to COVID- 19 protocols

AS COVID vaccinatio­n exercise resumes today at the 88 approved sites across Lagos State, the state government has urged eligible persons who fit into the first phase of the vaccinatio­n exercise to observe and ensure strict adherence to protocols and instructio­ns given by officials.

It also reiterated that only those who fit into phase one of the exercise, which includes healthcare workers, COVID- 19 response team ( RRT), ports of entry staff, laboratory network, judiciary, military, police, other security agencies, petrol station workers, teachers, jounalists, other frontline workers and persons of age 70 years and above will be attended to at the vaccinatio­n sites.

The state’s Commission­er for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, who spoke, yesterday, after reviewing report of the week- long phase one vaccinatio­n roll- out campaign in Lagos, advised the eligible persons to maintain social distance of at least two metres, wear a face mask and ensure proper hand hygiene.

The commission­er, while noting that the COVID19 protocols is still in place especially at public places and events requiring gathering of people, stated that security personnel have been stationed at vaccinatio­n sites to provide security, maintain order and ensure adherence to the COVID protocols.

Abayomi, who also urged the eligible citizens to preregiste­r for the vaccine via https:// www. nphcdaict. com. ng or https:// www. vaccinatio­n. gov. ng before proceeding to any of the vaccinatio­n sites, said that the OxfordAstr­azeneca COVID vaccine had been declared safe by the World Health Organisati­on and NAFDAC for administra­tion.
