Kano, Lagos must lead peace in Nigeria, says Tinubu

NATIONAL leader of All Progressiv­es Congress ( APC), Bola Tinubu, has said that Kano and Lagos states must remain peaceful despite the wa ve of uncertaint­y ravaging some states of the federation. Acknowledg­ing the prevailing security threat in the country defying militar y interventi­on, Tinubu insisted that Kano and Lagos, which have common population density and strong economic base, must be protected to lead a peaceful atmosphere in the country. The former Lagos governor spoke yesterday at the palace of the Emir of Kano while marking his 69th birthday in Kano.

According to Tinubu, the two largest cities that host Nigerians from all background­s regardless of religion, tribe or language, have no alternativ­e but to continue promoting unity , tolerance and peaceful atmosphere.

He, however, emphasised the need to overcome the security challenges, otherwise the nation might find it difficult to sustain its greatness.

“Nigeria is going through difficult times, especially challenges of insecurity . There cannot be developmen­t in the absence of peace and stability.

“Kano has enjoyed stability and peace despite the challenges in Nigeria. The governors have promoted unity in the faces of difficulti­es. We must commend them,” Tinubu sid.

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, had welcomed Tinubu to his palace and pledged the emirate’s support for his mission to lead the country to greater height.
