Rotary Club Okota donates wheel chairs, others to spinal cord injury home

- By Isaac Taiwo

TO mark its 34th anniversary, Rotary Club of Okota has donated food items and wheel chairs to the Spinal Cord Injury Home, Amuwo Odofin.

The president of the club, Mr Gabriel Ogugua, said the club decided to mark the anniversary of the chartered club with the victims as part of their commitment of doing good to humanity.

“We did the need assessment and discovered that some of the disabled were bed- ridden because of lack of enough wheel chairs. We also discovered that some of the wheel chairs they had were bad; a situation that hampered their movement and forced many of them to stay in bed for long, which might also cause more sickness for them.

“We also learnt that they feed on charity and therefore decided to come here to mark the anniversary of our club, which was chartered 34 years ago with them and brought for them food stuff as well as these wheel chairs.

“We are making it an annual project to ensure our club visits here at least twice a year and identify with them,” Ogugua said.

The national chairman, Spinal Cord Injuries Association of Nigeria, Obioha Ononogbu, appreciated the club and said that over the years, they had been living on the support of religious groups and government agencies, among others.
