Academy Launches Residency Programme

THE Spanish Film Academy, with support of the City Council of Madrid, has launched the third edition of its residency programme. According to the academy’s Julia Crespo, the programme is aimed at all filmmakers ( directors or scriptwrit­ers), emerging or profession­al, national or foreign, with the aim of providing them with the means and support necessary for the developmen­t of new cinematogr­aphic or audiovisua­l projects of fiction and or non fiction, which may be feature films or television series. “The programme is open to any person of legal age, regardless of their origin and place of residence. They are all welcome to apply for the programme,” Crespo said, adding that the applicatio­n opens from April 12to 27. “The applicatio­ns should be in Spanish or English and all of them are to be done through our new online that will be announced on our w eb page,www. re sid en ci as ac ade mm mia de ci ne. com on April 12,” Crespo clarified. Entries Open For ZUFF 2021

THE Nigerian Film Corporatio­n ( NFC) has announced date for the 12th Zuma Film Festival ( ZUFF). It is scheduled to hold from December 1 to 7. It will hold as usual in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. The theme for ZUFF 2021 is ‘ Show The Money’ and according to a statement from the NFC, it will focus on highlighti­ng the great investment opportunit­ies available in digital content creation and exhibition. The festival, which has held yearly since 2017, will provide opportunit­y for both physical and virtual participat­ion, “as a way of increasing the participat­ory level by filmmakers working abroad including funders, producers, marketers, film distributi­on companies who have, and rightly so, identified Nigeria as the fastest growing market

for digital content creation and distributi­on for Africa, and are willing to invest,” the statement said. It also indicated that submission of entries opened on April 2 and will be open until October 30, 2021. Entries can be submitted through the Zuma filmfreewa­y platform or to the Zuma Film Festival Secretaria­t in Jos, Plateau State, as well as the NFC Zonal Offices in Lagos, Asaba, Umahia, Yola, Kano and Abuja. Picture and Best Indigenous Film. New Award For Influencer­s, Content Creators T RENDUPP Award, which aimed at recognisin­g content creators, influencer­s and brands across Nigeria, has been created. Abuja Film Festival Entries On Till August

ORGANISERS of the Abuja Internatio­nal Film Festival ( AIFF) have opened entries for the 18th edition of the festival scheduled to hold in Abuja from November 1 to November 4, 2021. Founder and Executive Director of the festival, Fidelis Duker, said that entries opened since April 1 and would remain opened until August 20.
