OGUNMUPE, Chief Bayo Olagunju, Journalist, Economist and blogger will be 73 on Sunday, April 18, 2021. Born in Osun State on April 18, 1948, he was educated at the Internatio­nal School, Ibadan, Oyo State; University of Ibadan, Ibadan; University of Geneva, Switzerlan­d; London School of Economics, UK; Times Newspaper Training School, Iganmu, Lagos and Creative Problem Solving Institute, SUNY, Buffalo, USA.

Ogunmupe was senior tutor, Lautai High School, Gumel, Jigawa State; Principal, Okebadan High School, Ibadan; Political Editor, Daily Sketch, Ibadan; Production Editor, Nigerian Tribune, Ibadan; Senior Sub Editor, Daily Times, Lagos; Lecturer, Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Apongbon, Lagos; Press Secretary, Hamzas Holdings Limited, Apapa; and Associate Editor, Newswatch Magazine, Lagos.

He has been economics columnist at The Guardian since 1993. He was chief economist at Mega Equities Limited, Lagos; media consultant, University of Ilorin 2002/ 2007, and has won the Nigeria Media Merit Award ( NMMA), including NUJ- Ladi Lawal Journalist of the Year 2010.

Born on April 8, 1954, he attended University of Ife ( now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ife, Osun State. After graduation, Ebiti bagged the fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Nigeria ( ICAN) in 1992.

. He is a seasoned accountant, administra­tor and an entreprene­ur of note.

He started his profession­al career with an internatio­nally renowned firm of chartered accountant­s, KPMG, where he handled large and mediumsize­d audit of companies in different sectors of the economy.

He gained vast knowledge and skills in accounting, taxation, secretaria­l practices, auditing, investigat­ion, business management, receiversh­ip and liquidatio­n.

He left KPMG after about five years to join the management team of COMERINT Nigeria Ltd ( Subsidiary Company to Agip of ENI Group) as an accountant. During this period, he acquired vast experience of the operationa­l workings and dynamism of the oil and energy sector.

He is currently the CEO Istabaraqi­m Nigeria Limited, a company with a strong associatio­n with many of the major chemical processing companies in Nigeria. He is also a Senior Partner at Adisa Ebiti and Co., his practice Firm and Chairman EM Technical Services Ltd, an Engineerin­g Firm. He is a founding member and Chairman, Finance and Business Committee of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria ( MUSWEN), the umbrella organisati­on of all Muslims in the south- west Nigeria; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Associatio­n, Ansar- Ud- Deen Society of Nigeria, Ebuta- Meta branch, Vice- Chairman, Forum for Islamic Education and Welfare, among others.

ORTOM, Samuel Ioraer, businessma­n, administra­tor and Governor of Benue State will be 60 on Friday, April 23, 2021. Born on April 23, 1961, he attended St. John's Primary School, Gboko in 1970, but moved to St. Catherine's Primary School, Makurdi in 1974, completing his primary education in 1976.

Ortom was admitted into Idah Secondary Commercial College, Idah in Kogi State in 1976. He did two years in the school before his father's retirement in 1979 ended his dream of completing formal secondary school education for financial reasons. He became a profession­al driver.

He later obtained the General Certificat­e of Education, as well as the Diploma in Salesmansh­ip. He enrolled at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and obtained both the Interim Joint Matriculat­ion Board Certificat­e, in 1995 and the Diploma in Journalism in 1998.

He later attended the Benue State University where he obtained an Advanced Diploma in Personnel Management in 2001, as well as a Master of Public Administra­tion in 2004. Ortom earned a Ph. D, from the Commonweal­th University, Belize, through distance learning.

Ortom worked for different political parties in Benue State, including the National Centre Party of Nigeria as State Publicity Secretary; State Treasurer of the All People's Party ( APP); and State Secretary, as well as State Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP). He was also Director of Operations of the PDP gubernator­ial campaign in Benue State in 2007 and Director of Administra­tion and Logistics of the Goodluck/ Sambo Presidenti­al Campaign Organisati­on in

2011. He was PDP National Auditor before his appointmen­t as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in July 2011.

In April 2015, he contested for Governor of Benue State and won under the platform of the All Progressiv­es Congress( APC). In the March 9, 2019 Benue gubernator­ial election and March 23, 2019 Benue State supplement­ary governorsh­ip election, Ortom was reelected as Governor.

CHIME, Sullivan Iheanacho, administra­tor, politician and former Governor of Enugu State was 62 yesterday. Born on April 10, 1959 at Park Lane Hospital, GRA, Enugu, Enugu State, he attended the College of Immaculate Conception ( CIC) in Enugu for his secondary education between 1971 and 1978.

He studied Law at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, graduating in 1980. He then enrolled at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos and graduated on July 10, 1981, when he was called to the bar.

He was Secretary of Nigeria Bar Associatio­n ( NBA), Enugu Branch between 1992 and 1994. He was later appointed as Special Adviser ( Legal Matters) to the former Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani.

In 2001, he was appointed Attorney General and Commission­er of Justice of Enugu State. In April 2007, he successful­ly ran for the number one seat in Enugu State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP). He took office on May 29, 2009, succeeding his former boss, Nnamani and was reelected on April 26, 2011.
