Born on April 8, 1954, he attended University of Ife ( now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ife, Osun State. After graduation, Ebiti bagged the fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria ( ICAN) in 1992.
. He is a seasoned accountant, administrator and an entrepreneur of note.
He started his professional career with an internationally renowned firm of chartered accountants, KPMG, where he handled large and mediumsized audit of companies in different sectors of the economy.
He gained vast knowledge and skills in accounting, taxation, secretarial practices, auditing, investigation, business management, receivership and liquidation.
He left KPMG after about five years to join the management team of COMERINT Nigeria Ltd ( Subsidiary Company to Agip of ENI Group) as an accountant. During this period, he acquired vast experience of the operational workings and dynamism of the oil and energy sector.
He is currently the CEO Istabaraqim Nigeria Limited, a company with a strong association with many of the major chemical processing companies in Nigeria. He is a founding member and Chairman, Finance and Business Committee of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria ( MUSWEN), the umbrella organisation of all Muslims in the south- west Nigeria; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association, Ansar- Ud- Deen Society of Nigeria, Ebuta- Meta branch, Vice- Chairman, Forum for Islamic Education and Welfare, among others.
ORTOM, Samuel Ioraer, businessman, administrator and Governor of Benue State will be 60 on Friday, April 23, 2021. Born on April 23, 1961, he attended St. John's Primary School, Gboko in 1970, but moved to St. Catherine's Primary School, Makurdi in 1974, completing his primary education in 1976.
Ortom was admitted into Idah Secondary Commercial College, Idah in Kogi State in 1976. He did two years in the school before his father's retirement in 1979 ended his dream of completing formal secondary school education for financial reasons. He became a professional driver.
He later obtained the General Certificate of Education, as well as the Diploma in Salesmanship. He enrolled at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and obtained both the Interim Joint Matriculation Board Certificate, in 1995 and the Diploma in Journalism in 1998.
He later attended the Benue State University where he obtained an Advanced Diploma in Personnel Management in 2001, as well as a Master of Public Administration in 2004. Ortom earned a Ph. D, from the Commonwealth University, Belize, through distance learning.
Ortom worked for different political parties in Benue State, including the National Centre Party of Nigeria as State Publicity Secretary; State Treasurer of the All People's Party ( APP); and State Secretary, as well as State Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP). He was also Director of Operations of the PDP gubernatorial campaign in Benue State in 2007 and Director of Administration and Logistics of the Goodluck/ Sambo Presidential Campaign Organisation in
2011. He was PDP National Auditor before his appointment as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in July 2011.
In April 2015, he contested for Governor of Benue State and won under the platform of the All Progressives Congress( APC). In the March 9, 2019 Benue gubernatorial election and March 23, 2019 Benue State supplementary governorship election, Ortom was reelected as Governor.
CHIME, Sullivan Iheanacho, administrator, politician and former Governor of Enugu State was 62 yesterday. Born on April 10, 1959 at Park Lane Hospital, GRA, Enugu, Enugu State, he attended the College of Immaculate Conception ( CIC) in Enugu for his secondary education between 1971 and 1978.
He studied Law at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, graduating in 1980. He then enrolled at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos and graduated on July 10, 1981, when he was called to the bar.
He was Secretary of Nigeria Bar Association ( NBA), Enugu Branch between 1992 and 1994. He was later appointed as Special Adviser ( Legal Matters) to the former Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani.
In 2001, he was appointed Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of Enugu State. In April 2007, he successfully ran for the number one seat in Enugu State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP). He took office on May 29, 2009, succeeding his former boss, Nnamani and was reelected on April 26, 2011.
