WE are providing answers, today, to the questions asked on the series; ‘ Honouring God with your singleness’. These questions summarised the thought: How do you live life as a single person? First, be reminded again, that being single is never a curse or limitation in anyway. Singleness for the believer simply means that you are unique, separate, and whole to be the best God created you to be. The simple truth is that not everyone will be married, but everyone can live a fulfilled life with and in God. A single person may be alone, but they are not lonely with God.

You must choose to ignore any unrealistic social expectations from friends and families. This has led other people into making bad choices for marriage. Adam before Eve came into his life as his companion wasn’t lonely. He had an enriching relationship with God, Who never said or saw Adam as incomplete. They had a healthy relationship before He gave Eve to complement him in his life assignment. Individuals must learn to cultivate their intimacy with God before deciding to get married. What are the things every single person must learn to do whether you are currently planning to get married or not? Don’t rush into marriage, no matter the perceived pressure. Get going with life by growing in your career path, develop your enterprise dream, get an education, enroll yourself for continuous life improvement programmes, own stuff, invest your time, talents, and treasures. Don’t hold the best of you back, thereby becoming a liability on your environment. Be a blessing and contributor to your world. Don’t give in to the frustrations, loneliness and worries that come with societal expectations. Don’t make hasty decisions that become a problem in marriage. Marriage does not cure anyone’s loneliness or emptiness; rather, it complicates them. Don’t allow yourself to be tossed around by anyone who is not ready for the commitment required in a relationship. Don’t develop unrealistic expectations about life. Be open to friendship. Don’t be high- minded and vainglorious. Don’t be perceived as a snub. Be warm in your relationship with other people.

In conclusion, don’t spend your lifetime looking for someone to complete you. Your spouse when he/ she shows up is to complement you. So, find your life rhythm as you develop enriching relationship with God. Assume this faith posture: “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise,” ( Phil. 4: 8).
