Gospel Hour Going Back To Bethel ( 5)

- By Ejikeme Ejim

Text: Genesis 28: 1- 22; Genesis 35: 1- 12

IKey Verse: Genesis 35: 5, “And they journeyed, and the terror of God was upon the cities that were all around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.” ( NKJV)’ F you want to have a relationship with God, the primary thing you do is to take the necessary action against sin. Nobody can relate with God while living in sin. Sin will remove somebody’s name from the Book of life. Sin makes a person becomes a toy in the devil’s hands. Sin makes the devil to rejoice over the life of a person. Sin brings shame, disgrace and reproach on a person and leads to hell. No sinner will be raptured. When a man is not raptured, he will be lost.

Jacob’s household gave to Jacob all the foreign gods, which were in their hands and on their ears

and Jacob removed the foreign gods and hid them where they will not see them. We are running the Heavenly race, but you cannot run the Heavenly race when the devil has taken advantage of your life. As a matter of fact, anybody over whose life Satan has taken advantage of is no longer running the Heavenly race. He may be running any other thing but not the Heavenly race. If you are no longer running the Heavenly race, what are you doing in the church? Why chanting and shouting up and down the name of Jesus, if Satan is in control of your life? It is hypocrisy and self- deceit. It brings sorrow to God and joy to the Devil. Beloved, I urge you to bring out these strange gods and every mark of satanic oppression in your life, so that you will be free.

A chorus we sing says: “Jesus set me free, why should I be bound”? The Bible said if the Son of Man shall set you free, you shall be free indeed ( John 8: 36). In Job Chapter 1, we were told some things about Job, who was blameless, hated evil and was upright. Job was sensitive about sin to the extent that he would rise early in the morning to offer burnt offering for each of his children after feasting and coming back home. Job would say, who knows whether they have committed sin at that place they went feasting? Job would bring them and offer sacrifices, so that sin would not have a representative in his family. Job loved righteousness and hated iniquity ( Hebrews 1: 9). When Jacob’s household put away the foreign gods, they journeyed and the terror of God was upon the cities that were around them and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob ( Genesis 35: 5). Why should they pursue them? The Bible said in Romans 8: 31, if God be for us, nobody can be against us. Remember He that is with us and He that is in us is greater than all the forces in the world ( 1 John 4: 4). God appeared to Jacob again after they removed the foreign idols; after they had cleansed their hearts and after they returned to God and blessed Him.

If you want blessings from God, you should return to Him. One of the key verses in the Scripture is Mathew 6: 33, which says, “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Nobody can stop the blessings of a man that has submitted himself completely to God. Nobody stops God, but do what you should do, return to Bethel. Find out why you went astray and pick up your spiritual life.
