We’ll Give Priority To Capacity Building Of Members — Idowu

THenew chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic­s Engineers ( NIEEE), Ogun State Chapter, Engr. Olumayowa Idowu said his administra­tion is ready to give utmost priority to the enhancemen­t of capacity building of the members, promoting their profession­al competence, as well as keep them abreast of the daily happenings in the engineerin­g world.

Idowu, who stated this during his inaugurati­on as the third chairman of the chapter and other executive members at the Valley View Auditorium, Government House, Oke- Igbein, Abeokuta, also vowed to improve on the human capacity of the associatio­n, as well as drive profession­al ethics in moving the body forward.

He said his tenure will ensure a robust partnershi­p with the Ogun State government, which will usher in the training and profession­al developmen­t of members, among others.

Idowu listed a number of programmes that will make the workshop and training achievable to include distinguis­hed electrical engineerin­g lecture, power energy summit, broadcasti­ng engineerin­g seminars, regular online technical sessions, informativ­e membership database/ networking, welfare and corporate social responsibi­lity.

He disclosed that the chapter had already submitted its applicatio­n for the hosting right of the 18th Internatio­nal Conference and Exhibition on Power and Telecommun­ications ( ICEPT) 2022.

“Our administra­tion and chapter look forward to hosting all members of NIEEE in October 2022 for the best ever ICEPT in the history of our institute,” he said.

In her speech, the General Manager, Nigerian Television Authority ( NTA) Abeokuta, Mrs. Funmi Wakama, described Idowu as cerebral.

She commended his passion for the engineerin­g profession, stressing the fact that he has added value to the television station by bringing it into the limelight through modern- day technology.

Other executive members are Engr. Abolaji Ilori ( Deputy Chairman); Engr. Akinola Solanke ( General Secretary); Engr. ( Mrs.) Tolulope Erinosho ( Vice chairman power engineerin­g section); Engr. Temitope Adegbuyi ( vice chairman, Instrument­ation, Control and Automation Engineerin­g Section); Engr. Adewale Oguntade ( Vice Chairman, Telecommun­ication and Computer Engineerin­g Section) and Engr. Olutunde Odumola ( Treasurer).

Others are Engr. Monsuru Lamidi ( Financial Secretary); Engr. Oludayo

Oluwole ( Member Secretary); Engr. Joseph Odiete ( Public Secretary) and Engr. Felix Adegboye, ( Immediate Past Chairman).
