‘ Osun Needs N50b To Offset Pension Arrears’

- By Timothy Agbor, Osogbo

MEMBERS of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners ( NUP) under the Contributory Pension Scheme, Osun State Chapter, have disclosed that the State was owing them about N50billion naira. They asked the Federal Government to bail Osun out in this regard.

The pensioners made the disclosure during an interactive session with the Governor at his office in Abere, Osogbo.

Leader of the retirees, Mr. Oyadare Gbenga, applauded Governor

Gboyega Oyetola for the hands of fellowship being extended to them and urged him to offset the backlog of pension arrears amounting to N50billion.

“All we humbly demand from you is to speed up our bonds and work towards offsetting the backlog pensions arrears. We need about N50 billion to do that. We are of the view that Federal Government can give us bailout and give us five years holiday or moratorium before they begin deductions and spread the repayment over 20 years,” Gbenga said.
