Onne Customs records N78.167b revenue in first half of 2021

THE Nigeria Customs Service ( NCS), Area II Command Onne Port, Rivers State has generated N78.167 billion revenue between January and June 2021.

Public Relations Officer ( PRO) of the Command, Ifeoma Onuigbo Ojekwu, disclosed that the amount is N31.5 billion higher than the N46.6 billion collected between January and June last year, representi­ng a 67.52 per cent increase.

It attributed the feat to strict enforcemen­t of fiscal policies, implementa­tion of government directives and diligent trade facilitati­on of head of the command, Comptrolle­r Auwal Mohammed.

Besides the improvemen­t in mid- year revenue generation between 2020 and 2021, the command also achieved feats in export and anti- smuggling activities.

In June 2020, it generated N14.5 billion, while statistics showed that goods worth N52.6 billion were exported through Onne Port between January and June 2021.

The exports include sesame seeds, ginger, cocoa beans, hibiscus, fluorite ore, lead ore, palm kernel shells, cottons, float glasses and aluminum ingot, among others, with a NESS value of N260 million and 331.356.39 tonnes with FOB value of $ 138 million.
