NO fewer than 10 persons were feared killed by bandits in fresh attack on Makarau Jankasa community in Zango Kataf Local Council of Kaduna State.

The bandits were said to have also set nine houses ablaze in the community.

Residents said the fresh attack came after a similar attack on Warkan community some days ago, in which 10 people were killed, many sustained injuries, and 12 houses were razed.

A resident, Mr. Donald Bityong, told journalists yesterday that the armed men invaded the community and set houses on fire.

According to him, security operatives arrived the village when the criminals were done and disappeared into the bush.

The Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO), Mohammed Jalige, did not respond to calls for comments as of the time of this report.

MEANWHILE, Kidnappers have released the Emir of Kajuru Council, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu.

He was abducted alongside his family members on Sunday.

The monarch was released yesterday afternoon, few hours after the bandits demanded N200 million ransom on the monarch and 13 others.

But they still held on to other victims.

A royal family member, Aminu Kajuru, confirmed the emir’s release to journalists yesterday.

Also confirming his release was one of the kingmakers of the emirate council, Dahiru Abubakar, who said the emir was released in a bush close to Kajuru castle.

He did not say whether the N200 million ransom earlier demanded by the bandits was paid or not.

The kingmaker said: “The kidnappers have reached out to us to demand N200 million, but as we were negotiating for two million, they cut off the phone.”

A government official, who spoke in confidence, said during a meeting that the military commander in charge of Kajuru had advised the monarch to be wary of his movements and urged the community to improve vigilance.
