Ikpeazu’s Wife, Groups Canvass Passage Of Pending Bills

ABIA State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has led women groups to the state House of Assembly to canvass for passage of three bills pending before the Assembly. They include: the Child Rights Law of Abia State, Obnoxious Widowhood Practices Bill and amendment of the Discrimina­tion Against Persons with Disabiliti­es Law of 2018.

She was accompanie­d by the Deputy Governor’s wife, Lady Vivian Ude Oko Chukwu, Dr. Onyinyechi Orji,

who represente­d the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs. Ihuoma Uzosike; wife of Chairman of State Council of Traditiona­l Rulers, Ugoeze Cecilia Nwabeke, members of Child Protection Network, National Council of Women Societies, Internatio­nal Federation of Women Lawyers and others.

The Assembly Speaker, Chinedum Orji, promised that the bills would be passed shortly. He commended the governor’s wife for her sustained dispositio­n and passion for the indigent, vulnerable and PWDS.
