Stakeholders task FG on provision of infrastructure, power, others in S’east
STAKEHOLDERS from the South East geopolitical zone at the weekend, asked the Federal Government to provide visible infrastructure and enhance power supply in the region and all parts of Nigeria.
They made the request at an interactive town hall meeting in Owerri, Imo State organised by the Africa Peer Review Mechanism ( APRM), which also witnessed sessions for the Country Review Mission ( CRM) and Validation of Country Self - Assessment Report ( CSAR).
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Placid Njoku, urged the Federal Government to address infrastructure deficit in the state, saying his administration needed to be complimented with citizens’ critical needs.
Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Paul Emeziem, who was represented by representative of Njaba Constituency, Mrs. Uju Onwudiwe, canvassed gender mainstreaming, while a youths representative, Noble Ewurum and former House of Representatives member, Austin Nwachukwu, demanded provision of railway services in the South East.
They also canvassed resuscitation of moribund industries in the state through provision of grants and an enabling environment such as improved power supply.
