UNIPORT orders compulsory use of face masks

THE University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has directed staff members, students and all visitors to wear face masks in the institution following threats of the Delta variant of coronavirus.

In a statement issued yesterday by the Public Relations Officer ( PRO), Sam Kpenu, it stressed that the order from the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, was aimed at curbing the spread of the Delta variant of COVID- 19 in the university community and to keep everyone safe.

The statement ordered every member of the university community to wear face masks and observe the COVID- 19 protocols for all indoor activities including lectures, examinations and meetings.

“All staff members, students and visitors to the university are required to ensure regular hand washing, use of hand sanitisers and keep social distancing,” the statement added.
