FUPRE seeks private sector support for infrastructure development

VICE Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun ( FUPRE), Prof. Akpofure Rim- Rukeh, has urged the private sector and good- spirited Nigerians to support the institution in raising funds for infrastructure development and improved academic performance.

He said the educational sustainability and progress, especially universities in the country, was being threatened by over- dependence on government funding.

Rim- Rukeh stated this in Abuja, yesterday, ahead of the institution’s planned education development roundtable, saying government’s funding alone for such a specialised university, could not realise its objectives.

“We are now saying that for the nation’s education to be sustainable, the private sector should be involved. The development and direction of the universities is also being threatened by the wide gap between industry and the universities,” he said.
