Second African Minifootball Nations Cup kicks off in Ibadan amid fanfare
THE second edition of the African Minifootball Nations Cup ( AMC) kicked off at the weekend at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort in Ibadan, Oyo State, with Nigeria and Libya’s Minifootball teams ending their duel in a goalless draw. In the second match, Egypt defeated its
Ghanaian opponents by three goals to one.
The continental indoor tournament is contested by the senior men’s national teams of the members of African Minifootball Federation ( AMF). The first edition held in Libya in May 2018. The current edition was to hold last year, but the COVID- 19 pandemic forced its postponement to 2021.
Guests at the competition’s opening include Oyo State’s Deputy Governor, Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan; Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Seun Fakorede; President, African Minifootball Confederation, Archraf Ben
Salha; Chairman, Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Chief Dotun Sanusi; National President, Nigeria Minifootball Association, Oluyemi Taiwo; General Secretary, Davids Adewoye; and ex- Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju, were treated to quality entertainment.
