Eriata seeks N3.5 million for open- heart surgery
A32- year- old man, Thompson Eriata is in dire need of N3.5 million to carry out an open- heart surgery.
Eriata, who hails from Edo State but lives in Mowe in Ogun State, was diagnosed with severe mitral and aortic regurgitation, which requires an immediate open- heart surgery to replace his mitral and aortic valve at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile- Ife, where he is being managed.
According to a medical report from Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Eriata would require an open- heart surgery as soon as possible. The report dated July 1, 2021,
was signed by Consultant Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon, Dr. Uvie OnAkpoya and Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. A. M. Owojuyigbe.
The doctors said: “Eriata has been assessed by echocardiography and diagnosed to have severe mitral and aortic regurgitation. These will require an open- heart surgery procedure as soon as possible to replace the mitral and aortic valves. The surgery will cost N3.5 million.”
The urgency of the treatment, It was learnt, has necessitated him to seek financial support from kind- hearted individuals, non- governmental organisations, corporate organisations and religious bodies to raise N3.5 million for the open- heart surgery.
