THE Concerned Igbo Stakeholders Forum ( CISF) has urged Southeast governors to take responsibility and stop the Indigenous People of Biafra’s ( IPOB) parallel government that has led to continuous sit- at- home in the region.

It charged the governors to convene an emergency meeting in the next 48 hours and follow it up with a multistakeholder consultative forum, with the intent to generate actionable ideas that would douse rising tensions in the zone.

Leader of the forum, Chukwuma Okenwa, said in a media briefing, yesterday, in Enugu on the Disruptive Nature of Sit– At- Home Order and its Socio- Economic Impact On The People, that people of good conscience should rise against it in the interest of the zone.

IPOB had declared that it had withdrawn the order, but hoodlums had hijacked the situation, thereby terrorising the people with sporadic violence and fake/ tailored viral social media posts.

Okenwa said the continued sit- at- home directive, which most individuals and businesses had obeyed had dire economic consequences on businesses, adding that the Igbo, who largely depended on daily earnings now have to go hungry for some days of the week because of shutdown.

He also noted that coincidentally, the NECO Mathematics and WAEC English Language examinations, which held on came at a cost to the students.

He lamented that most students had to trek over 10 kilometers to catch up with their examinations, because commuters were unavailable, adding that a good number of candidates missed their examinations.

BESIDES, Yiaga Africa has decried what it as low voter turn out during elections in Anambra State.

Its Election Programme Manager, Paul James, made the observation, while speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of a programme to engage leaders of civil society organisations ( CSOS) in Anambra State.
