LAWMA partners Epe council in cleanup campaign

THE Lagos Waste Management A uthority ( LAWMA), has partnered Epe Local Government in its cleanup campaign. LAWMA’S Managing Director/ CEO, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, who took the agency’s community cleanup campaign to the council over the weekend, expressed displeasur­e at the poor waste disposal habits of the people, as well as their poor response to payment for waste.

He promised to turn around waste management in the Epe Campus of the Lagos State University, as he solicited their collaborat­ion to develop LAWMA Academy.

Responding at the council secretaria­t, Ita Marun, Epe , the Chairman of the council, Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, promised to work with LAWMA, by mobilising residents to pay their waste bills and properly dispose of their waste.

She commended the efforts of the agency and admonished residents to reciprocat­e its gesture by putting up an environmen­tfriendly habit.

In his address, High Chief Agbon, who represente­d the Oloja of Epe, HRH Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, lauded the effort of LAWMA but solicited for recruitmen­t of more personnel to expand the existing workforce, as well as improved pay package to boost their morale. Similarly, Chief Quadri Ojiga Ogboro who repre - sented the Olu Epe, HRH Sheffield Olatunji Adewale saluted the determinat­ion of LAWMA’S managing di - rector, to make Epe one of the cleanest cities in the state.

On his part, the vice- Chairman of the Community Developmen­t Committee in Epe, Alhaji Ogundipe Akewushola, chronicled the operations of LAWMA in the town since the 80s and expressed deep appreciati­on of its performanc­e so far.

In attendance were the Chief Technical Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Olorunwa Tijani; AGM Admin, Mr. Taoreed Dosumu; AGM East 2 Operations, Mrs. Bola Adewumi among others.
