BARRING any last twist, the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Anambra State is at the risk of being excluded from the 2023 elections, following the seeming stalemate that greeted its delegates’ election.

This is coming on the heels of confusion, following the shabby way the exercise was conducted by the three- man delegate sent by the party’s national leadership.

Already, about 74 aspirants for the 2023 state and national assembly elections from the state have petitioned the National Working Committee ( NWC), through the National Chairman of the party, Prof. lyorcha Ayu. The aspirants warned of consequences if the party fails to hold the three- man delegate election today.

After the NWC meeting at the Udoka state Head Office, Awka, yesterday, Ayu noted: “It is with pain and dismay that the Jibrin Ahmed- led committee was unable to conduct the three- man ad- hoc delegate election that was to hold on April 30, but was rescheduled to May 1, due to unavailability of original result sheets.”

The communiqué signed by the aspirants after a meeting chaired by the state Chairman, Ndubuisi Nwobu, called on the national leadership of PDP to expeditiously repeat the botched exercise today, so as not to jeopardise their chances in the 2023 elections.

“In the event of exigency of time, the already existing ward and local council executives can go ahead to conduct the primaries.” The Communiqué, which was made available to The Guardian, sought for the repeat of the same threeman ad- hoc congress, with a mandate to conduct the national delegate elections the next day.
