Kola Balogun formally joins Oyo APC as Majekodunm­i- Oniru gets form for Senate

THE lawmaker representi­ng Oyo South Senatorial District in National Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), Senator Kola Balogun, yesterday formally announced his defection to the All Progressiv­es Congress ( APC).

Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, who had initially expressed displeasur­e over the manner Governor Seyi Makinde withdrew the South senatorial ticket from him and handed it over to Joseph Tegbe, who recently defected from APC to PDP, confirmed his defection to journalist, saying: “It is true. Yes, it is confirmed. I have joined APC.”

Oyo Central on APC platform, Senator Teslim Folarin, who spoke through his aide, Yekini Shakirudee­n Olaniyi, said Balogun’s love for APC was a welcome developmen­t as it would swell the ranks of the party and appropriat­ely position it to defeat PDP next year. R

ELATEDLY, as the political race inches forward with only few weeks to the APC primaries, an aspirant in Ogun State, Olatorera Majekodunm­i- Oniru, who is running for the Senate to represent Ogun Central District, yesterday, presented her nomination form to leaders in the district.

The female aspirant expressed optimism to win the party’s ticket, considerin­g the Executive Order signed by Governor Dapo Abiodun in April 2022 mandating minimum 35 per cent women representa­tion in government and politics in Ogun State.
