Stop Comparing My Artistes With Others – Don Jazzy

-

VETERANMUSIC executive and record producer, Micheal Ajere, professionally known as Don Jazzy, has charged Nigerians to desist from constantly comparing artistes together, noting that they all have different music styles and visions for their brand.

The Mavin Records CEO, who has been responsible for discovering and nurturing talents such as Ayra Star,

Crayon, Boyspyce, Johnny Drille, among others, took to his social media, recently, to condemn the toxicity of Nigerian music fanbases.

“If your only way to support Mavin Records is by hating on or downplaying a colleague’s success or hustle, then please keep your success to yourself. I know some of you derive pleasure from that sh**, but that is not the Mavin way. We would manage our fanbase that is genuinely happy for others. We make music for you all to listen to and enjoy. That is only what makes us happy, and nothing else!

“When Rema broke out, I granted interviews addressing the issue ( because of the comparison), hoping that one day the fans would learn from our body language at

Mavin Records and stop!

But it seems to be getting worse by the day.”

After dissolving the defunct Mo’hits record, which housed heavyweights such as D’banj, Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, D’prince, among others, back in 2011, Don Jazzy went ahead to set up the Mavin Records. With over 10 years of constantly nurturing emerging acts, especially via its Mavin Incubator Programme, the record label is positioned as one of the most progressive

in the continent.
