AN Ekiti State monarch, the Ogoga of Ikere- Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu- Alagbado, has berated politicians splashing N100 million for parties’ nomination and expression of interest forms.

The monarch, who was angered by the continuous shut down of Nigerian universities, described the action as height of insensitivity.

The traditional ruler said that the situation was unacceptable, wondering why politicians are displaying obscene wealth.

He advised politicians to channel the billions of naira being expended to procure nomination forms to seek elective positions to fund university education.

The first class Ekiti monarch spoke at the weekend, while presenting a N16 million worth of ambulance donated by his community to Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere- Ekiti ( BOUESTL).

The Ogoga of Ikere- Ekiti, while addressing the university’s top brass during the handing over ceremony, held in his palace, chided Nigerian leaders for allowing university education to decay through unwarranted underfunding.

Oba Adu- Alagbado said the ambulance was not just donated by Ikere- Ekiiti elite, saying: “Market men and women, chiefs, technicians and traditionalists all sacrificed to purchase the vehicle. I commend my subjects for their unity of purpose.

“This ambulance will be useful now that the population of students and members of staff are increasing. This gesture also encourages us to patronise madein- Nigeria goods.

In his remarks at the occasion, Governor Kayode Fayemi, represented by the state’s Commissioner for Education, Dr. Bimpe Aderiye, appreciated the community for taking the step to help the university.

Also, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Victor Adeoluwa, appreciated Oba Adu- Alagbado and the Ikere community for seeing the university as their “baby.”
