IPC documents attacks on journalist­s, unveils publicatio­ns today

THE Internatio­nal Press Centre ( IPC) is launching two documentar­ies and a publicatio­n on attacks on journalist­s, in Abuja, today.

The first of the works is titled, ‘ Voices From COVID- 19 Frontlines,’ while the second is, ‘ Voices From # ENDSARS Frontlines.’

The event, which is being organised to commemorat­e the 2022 World Press Freedom Day that held on May 3 and themed, ‘ Journalism Under Digital Siege,’ would feature a stakeholde­rs’ roundtable on protection for journalist­s during national crises and emergencie­s.

IPC’S Programme Manager, Mrs. Stella Nwofia, in a statement, said the event is conceived to mobilise stakeholde­rs for sustainabl­e framework and mechanism for halting media repression, impunity and guaranteei­ng safety of journalist­s in Nigeria.

According to her, Director of Macarthur Foundation, Dr. Kole Shettima, would deliver the keynote address, while Inspector General of the Police ( IGP), Alkali Baba Usman, is the speaker.

President of Newspaper Proprietor­s Associatio­n of Nigeria ( NPAN), Kabir Yusuf, is to present the publicatio­n.

Director, Public Policy Initiative of Shehu Musa Yar’adua Foundation, Amara Nwankpa, would deliver special remarks alongside a representa­tive of the Internatio­nal Freedom of Exchange ( IFEX), which along with Macarthur Foundation, Luminate, Ford Foundation and OSIWA that are supporting the programme.
