Court quashes evidence against Jang in fraud case

JChristy Dabup of the Plateau State High Court, yesterday, ruled that the disputed statements obtained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) in the ongoing trial involving former Governor Jonah Jang were not voluntary and, therefore, cannot be tendered as evidence in court.

Dabup, who gave the ruling at the conclusion of the trialwithin- trial, after taking arguments from lawyers to the parties, rejected the EFCC claim that the statements were voluntary.

Jang is standing trial alongside Yusuf Pam, former cashier in the office of the Secretary to the State Government ( SSG), over alleged misappropriation of public fund of over N6.3 billion.
