Association pledges to foster peace, unity in communities
THE Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria ( MWFAAN) has pledged to foster peace and unity as well as create enduring impact in communities through its projects.
President of the association, Ahmed AdetolaKazeem, said it aims to make communities a better place for everyone, by identifying and proferring viable solution to challenges.
MWFAAN recently selected finalists in the contest called ‘ Cross- Cohort Collaboration Grant competition’. The competition, the pilot edition, was opened to members of the association with community relevant project ideas.
The project, which is under the ‘ The Cross- Cohort Collaboration Initiative ( CCCI)’ created by the association, provided grants of
N1.5m for lucky winner. Rachael Inegbedion and Tobiloba Ajayi won the project ‘ Empowered mothers, thriving children’.
The first runners up were Winifred Otokhina and Melva Uguru with project ‘ school’, while Timothy Undiandeye and Kunle Adewale emerged second runners up with the project, ‘ Resonance: An exhibition of upcycled art and photography for mental health awareness’.
Ajayi, among others in her acceptance speech, revealed that the idea of the project was to alleviate poverty and promote inclusive economic opportunities for 10 lowincome mothers of children and youths with cerebral palsy across the country.
The aim, she said, was to strengthen the educational outcomes of 10 children and youths with Cerebral Palsy through STEM and Robotics Learning.
