Gunmen abduct three vehicles loaded with passengers in Rivers

GUNMENON Wednesday night abducted an undisclosed number of occupants in three vehicles along Evekwu - Rumuodogo in Emohua Local Council of Rivers State.

It was gathered that the gunmen diverted the passengers to a nearby forest, shortly after they succeeded in ambushing the vehicles.

A member of a local vigilante group in the area, who confirmed the incident, said occupants of a fully loaded commercial bus, a driver of a Sienna carrying goods, and another private vehicle were kidnapped at gunpoint within the Evekwu- Rumuodogo axis of East- West road.

Although, he did not confirm the actual number of the abductees, The Guardian learnt that the victims were returning from Port Harcourt when the gunmen ambushed them between 8: 00p. m. and 9: 00p. m.

The vigilante personnel said they managed to trace the footsteps of the kidnappers after the incident but could not counter them due to circumstances beyond their control.

The Rivers State Police Command is yet to confirm the incident, though officers attached to Rumuji division have visited the scene.
