Oni Urges Buhari To Addressasuu Strike, Epileptic Power Supply
BISHOP of the Diocese of Ondo, Church of Nigeria ( Anglican Communion), Reverend Stephen Adeniran Oni, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently address the lingering impasse involving the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASUU), for the sake of the students and the nation.
The cleric also called on Buhari to address epileptic power supply, unemployment, inflation, insecurity, among others challenges that are making life difficult for the people.
Delivering his Bishop’s charge recently at the Cathedral Church of St. Stephen Oke- Aluko, Ondo State with the theme, “Approved and Irreproachable Workman,” which the text was taken from 2 Tim. 2: 15, the Bishop lamented that the spate of ostentatious display of wealth ongoing in the nation, among the political class does not speak well of the nation, especially when majority of the people are living in abject poverty.
Tracing the problem of insecurity to the fractured history and current ethnic conflicts and political corruption, the cleric noted that these challenges were tearing the nation apart, and called on Nigerians to pray for God to send men with the right vision to save and heal the land from going under.
The cleric warned that if nothing was done to address the nation’s challenges, the calamity that would come will consume both the rich and the poor.
