Bala pushes for North East, South East presidency

• Saraki meets Imo PDP stalwarts, promises restructur­ing, ‘ real’ democracy

PEOPLES Democratic Party ( PDP) presidenti­al aspirant and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has canvassed power shift either to the North East or the South East geopolitic­al zones of the country.

Speaking during an interactiv­e session with delegates in Awka, Anambra State, he argued that the call was based on the realisatio­n that both

zones ha ve not produced oc cupant of the exalted seat since the return to democratic rule in the countr y.

Mohammed described the Igbo nation as critical in the Nigerian project, adding that their entreprene­urial ingenuity needs to be emulated by other parts of the country as a model f or addressing poverty and unemployme­nt in the country.

Bala, who expressed satisfacti­on over the warm reception accorded him, assured that he has the wherewitha­l to tackle the myriads of problems besetting the country.

The governor, whose campaign train met with delegates in neighbouri­ng Ebonyi and Enugu states, reiterated his determinat­ion to ensure the defeat of the All Progressiv­e Congress ( APC).

He also promised to support whosoever emerged as the flag bearer of the party at the primary on May 28.

EANWHILE, former senate president and presidenti­al aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), Bukola Saraki, has promised to restructur­e Nigeria and administer the affairs of the country in real democratic ideals, while offering opportunit­ies for greatness.

Saraki, who made the promise at the weekend during interactio­n with the leaders of the party in Owerri, noted that the country needed to be fixed by a sound, courageous and experience­d person like him.

He promised that Nigerians would not regret electing him as their president, pledging to ensure equal opportunit­ies to all, irrespecti­ve of ethnic, political and religious leanings.
