SDP’S allegation against me false, misleading, says Ekiti gov

Says Oshiomhole’s accusation laughable, a figment of imagination

- Fromayodele Afolabi, Ado- Ekiti

EKITI State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has described the allegation by the Social Democratic Party ( SDP) in Ekiti State on ‘ task force’ as false, misleading and irresponsible.

Owoseeni Ajayi, who was acting as solicitor to the candidate of the SDP, Chief Segun Oni, had written to security agencies in the state, alleging that some citizens and union leaders had been recruited and a ‘ task force’ set up by Fayemi to disrupt the June 18, 2022 governorship elections.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, yesterday, in AdoEkiti, Fayemi said the allegation would have been ignored as another dubious fabrication from the stable of “the troubled SDP,” but for the fact that it was written by a supposed learned fellow.

“It is rather ridiculous that a former attorney- general of the state is the one assigned the role of chief fiction writer for the dying party. More saddening is the relish with which he undertook the task of concocting the spurious allegations.

“While we pity Ajayi for descending to this level of engagement, we urge the security agencies to investigate the allegation in the report, with a view to determining the truth of the matter and taking necessary steps to ensure that purveyors of lies and those who make false claims are brought to book.

“The credentials of Governor Fayemi as the Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, are decent and pragmatic, and are well noted by well- meaning Nigerians across the geopolitical zones and cannot be tainted by unfounded claims of a gang of hack writers who have taken abode in SDP,” the statement stated.

ELATEDLY, Fayemi has described the accusation by a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), Adams Oshiomhole, as false, puerile and laughable, saying that it is a figment of his imagination.

A statement by Oyebode stated that the allegation made by Oshiomhole on a national television was false as Fayemi never asked former APC national chairman to rig any election for him or any other person and never had any reason to ask for such.

“Members of the public are urged to disregard the allegation by Oshiomhole, who apparently is still experiencing a post- traumatic stress disorder on account of his removal as chairman of APC.

“It is on record that Fayemi was not responsible for Oshiomhole’s removal as chairman of APC. He has his ward executives and the courts to blame for that.”

He challenged Oshiomhole to provide verifiable evidence of his unsubstantiated claims, if true.
