- By Kehinde Olatunji

THE Provost, Federal College of Education ( Technical) Akoka, Lagos, Dr Wahab Azeez, has advised matriculating students of 2021/ 2022 Nigeria Certificate In Education ( NCE) and Professional Diploma In Education ( PDE) to uphold academic and moral excellence during their stay in the institution.

Speaking during the matriculation, Azeez urged the students to refrain from all acts contrary to the rules and regulations of the college so as not to jeopardise their ambitions.

He listed the acts that the students should eschew to include: examination misconduct, admission fraud, certificate forgery, cultism, fighting, theft, extortion, rape, illicit drug dealings, as well as membership of unlawful secret cults and societies.

He said: “I advise that you combine both academic and moral excellence throughout your stay as a student in the college. As students, you are expected to exhibit discipline, loyalty, honesty and good character at all times. Avoid wasting your energy in pursuit of unlawful acts or destructive union activities that are tantamount to misplaced priorities and contributing to lowering of standards of education.”

He added that the college remained focused and committed to the philosophy and values upon which it was established in 1967, saying students should be security conscious.

“The college management has taken security on campus very seriously. There is security surveillance 24/ 7 by the school security, including Close

Circuit Television ( CCTV) and cameras to detect criminally minded persons. It would be appreciated if you can report anyone with suspicious activities in the college. Please note that security is the work of everyone and do not join anyone who is a security risk to your stay in or outside the college.”

Azeez also lamented the economic crisis confronting the country, saying this has affected students’ enrollment in the college for the 2021/ 2022 academic session.
