Femi Gbajabiamilla set For Oyo Title

THespeaker of Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamilla is presently in happy mood over the confirmation of his purported Oyo Chieftaincy title.

The Oyomesi recently revealed that the installation ceremony of the speaker as the Aare Baasofin of Yoruba land, as announced by the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, would still hold.

It would be recalled that some hours after the monarch’s death, an invitation to the installation surfaced online, but the Speaker later said in a statement that the ceremony could no longer hold, because the entire Yoruba race was mourning.

However, the Oyo Mesi, which is led by the Basorun, the traditional Prime Minister of Oyo, Chief Olayinka Ayoola, said the installation would go ahead. He said this when Gbajabiamila paid a condolence visit to the palace.

He informed that one of the last wishes of the late Alaafin to confer the title of Baasofin of Yorubaland on Gbajabiamila would be fulfilled by the Oyomesi and the next Alaafin. However, he didn’t disclose if the initial date still stands.
