STAKEHOLDERS

of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Imo State have expressed displeasure over the composition of the party’s presidential campaign list for the state.

The list, as released by Imo PDP, had the immediate past governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha, and former state party Chairman, Charles Ezekwem, as Presidential Campaign Chairman and Director, respectively.

In a press briefing held in Owerri at the weekend, former House of Assembly member for Okigwe

Council, Ngozi Ogbu, as well as 2023 Imo governorship aspirants, Mike Ikoku and Gozie Nwachukwu, who spoke on behalf of the stakeholders, described the list as fake, and its composition undemocratic.

They insisted that the list lacked due consultation of stakeholders, and was designed to favour few individuals’ selfish ends against general interest of the party in the state.

Ogbu said: “Imo PDP stakeholders reject the fake Presidential Campaign

Council list purportedly announced by the state secretary of the party, Nze Ray Emeana.

“We wish to use this medium to inform our party that stakeholders in Imo were summoned to a meeting to discuss the composition of the Presidential Campaign Council, as well as Campaign Management Committee, but to our surprise and chagrin, the secretary of the party proceeded to read out a list of members of the Presidential Campaign Council and Management

Committee list.

“This led to commotion, and majority of stakeholders rejected and opposed the announcement due to lack of consultation, alleging imposition.

“Members frowned on the attempt to use the Presidential Campaign Council as an extension of Ihedioha’s Campaign Council.

“The party stakeholders reject the imposition of Ihedioha as Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, and directors of his campaign team as heads of various presidential campaign directorates.”
