AFORMER Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Kelechi Nwagwu, yesterday, declared interest to run for the governorship seat of the state on the platform of the Labour Party ( LP).

The governorship election in the state, The Guardian gathered, will be conducted in November 2023.

In a ceremony held at the party’s headquarters, Wetheral Road, Owerri, Nwagwu, said he is contesting to reset the state and restore it to its past glory.

Nwagwu said: “I want to realise my dream of resetting Imo and returning it to its former glory. I have what it takes to displace the incumbent governor, and get Imo working again.”

Decrying the menace of money politics, Nwagwu, said: “We all have money; but it is not all about money. It is about competence and passion for selfless service to humanity.”
