Enabulele swears in new CMA president after tenure expiration

PRESIDENT of the World Medical Associatio­n ( WMA), Dr. Osahon Enabulele, who doubled as the President of the Commonweal­th Medical Associatio­n ( CMA) has handed over to Dr. Raj Muruga ( President of the Malaysian Medical Associatio­n), as the new President of the CMA. This was after a completing a three- year tenure, which spanned from November 5, 2019 to Saturday, November 5, 2022.

The swearing- in ceremony/ hand over event held at the Golf resort in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, witnessed the participat­ion of eminent personalit­ies in the CMA and the Malaysian Health Ministry.

Enabulele, in his handover speech, urged members of the Associatio­n to step up their commitment to the CMA, and urged physicians to continuall­y dedicate themselves to the physician’s pledge and the revised Internatio­nal Code of Medical Ethics.

Enabulele recounted the experience­s of his three year tenure as CMA President, and stated that despite the challenges posed by the COVID- 19 pandemic for over two years of his tenure, his leadership was able to reposition the CMA to an enviable status within the Commonweal­th of Nations, with many progressiv­e strides and legacies attained.

While calling for support for the new President and leadership of the CMA, Enabulele thanked all those who offered his leadership a hand of support, encouragem­ent and prayers during his very eventful and engaging tenure.
