TEETH 4 TEETH...

Was That DSTV Or Nollywood?

T4T has this habit of always pressing the ‘ info’ button on the remote to read the synopsis of any movie he is viewing on DSTV. And so he did on the movie titled ‘ Royal Tussle’ or so, during the week. This was what he got:

“This exceptional movie centres on the travails of Ndiche in the hands of love. Watch as events unfolds in this wonderful royal masterpiece.”

One thing stuck out in the synopsis. How on earth would events ‘ unfolds’? Was the synopsis written by the DSTV Channel manager or the person that cues in the movies or by the director or producer as he or she submitted the movie to the Pay TV outfit? Anyway sha, that person must have attended Oxford University of Ihiala or Ughelli and got a Masters degree in ENGRISH!

Well, just in case you need more information on the movie, it was directed by Emeka

Nnakihe and starred Joyce Kalu, Destiny Etiko among others.

That Lazy Nollywood Movie Director

M

OST Nollywood movies are centred on love, royalty and money ritual. Over Dose Money’s theme was money ritual. Two young lazy and wayward friends were desperate to make it big, so they left the village to find a fast route to wealth. They ended up getting involved in money rituals. Guess you are familiar with this over flogged storyline, right?

But the storyline is not the issue here. The Director ( Producer) of Over Dose Money should win the next movie award for the BEST LAZY DIRECTOR in Africa. Come on, how can one comprehend the fact that someone did money ritual and the best car he can drive is a Nigeria used ( Tokunbo) Toyota Highlander and Acura Legend that have been freshly repainted? So, person do ritual na Tokubo car the money reach to buy? Obviously, the Director or Producer is too lazy to realise that drama is an imitation of life and they had to make the movie look real.

Take your mind back to early Nollywood movies like Rituals where the likes of

Kanayo O Kanayo, Ejike Asiegbu, Zach Orji among others got involved in money rituals. The kind of state of the art cars, mansions they flaunted made it look real to the viewer.

But here we are, the two lazy friends coming back to the village prancing about with USED cars when a scene before, we were shown they were doing money rituals. How much would it cost the Producer to rent two expensive cars, preferably SUVS and make the movie look ‘ realer’?

Anywah sha, in case you want to know the name of the Director, na im name be dis, Amos Ugwuoke. And our own Don Brymo, Chiwetalu Agu among others starred in the unrealistic Nollywood movie.

Online Skit Makers And Copyright Infringements

S

KIT Making is now a very lucrative arm of the film industry ( well, if indeed you will call it film making but sha dem dey carry camera too na) but one very disturbing thing is the way these skit makers use sound recordings of other artistes, and investigation by T4T revealed that most of them don’t even know that it is a breach of the copyright of the original owners of the works.

The most used song at the moment is that of Johnny Drille. Someone should tell them that just because they produce comedy skits don’t insulate them from copyright Infringements. They cannot be using the works of others in their money making venture.

By the way, are Mayo Ayilaran and Tony Okoroji of the MCSN and COSON still around?
