Visit Hospitals, Public Places To Assess People’s Condition, Fagbemi Tells Politician­s At Funeral

BISHOP of the Diocese of Owo Church of Nigeria ( Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Stephen Fagbemi has urged politician­s, especially those contesting for elections in 2023 to visit hospitals, schools and other public places to experience what the people are suffering, saying this will assist them to come up with a better agenda for their administra­tion.

The Bishop said this at the funeral of Lady Evangelist Grace Akeredolu, the mother of the Ondo State Governor Oluwarotim­i Akeredolu held at the Cathedral Church of St. Andrew, Owo, Ondo State.

Commiserat­ing with Governor Akeredolu and his family, President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government, Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo said the late Mrs Akeredolu served God, her family, the church, and the community passionate­ly in her lifetime.

“The life of our late mother, Lady Evangelist Grace Akeredolu is a life worthy of celebratio­n. This is a woman who served God from the beginning of her life. She served her family, church, and community for many years. We thank God for her life,” he said.

The former Governor of Lagos State and presidenti­al candidate of All Progressiv­e Congress ( APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said: “We thank God for her life and for the fact that she has the greatest legacy of a life that is full of achievemen­ts and joy, and also passing on at a ripe age.”

On his part, the Governor of Lagos State, Sanwo- Olu, urged Governor Akeredolu, his family, friends, and the people of Owo and Ondo State to preserve the late evangelist legacy that includes love and prayer. He enjoined members of the Christian community to immortalis­e the good name of the deceased.

In his response, Governor Akeredolu appreciate­d the guests for turning up for the funeral and urged religious leaders to continue to pray for public office holders in the country to continue to work for the people.

The service was attended by Bishops and priests of the Anglican Church; Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; and his Osun State counterpar­t, Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

Others were dignitarie­s from other denominati­ons including traditiona­l rulers, judges and lawyers, politician­s and captains of industry, as well as family and friends of the bereaved family.
