Discover The Will Of God For You ( 1)
Introduction
WHAT were you created for? What is the purpose of your life?
We all long for meaning and significance. Is it possible that you were formed with your personality, gifts, talents, and even your experiences for eternal reasons? Absolutely, it is! Scripture testifies that God has a plan for your life, and that He wants to communicate it to you. So how do you hear and know God’s plan?
Most people are concerned to know the will of God for their lives. A frequently asked question is what would God have me do? What is God’s will for my life? An atheist will not ask such a question because he has said there is no God and this message will not benefit an atheist because the Bible has this to say about him/ her:“The fool says in his heart there is no God.” ( Ps 14: 1)
The “fool” is a person who lives as if there is no God. Fools reveal their rebellion against God in two ways. ( 1) They reject God’s revelation, for they do not believe what the Bible says about God. They scorn the moral principles of God’s word and rely on their own ideas to determine what is right and wrong ( i. e. moral relativism) ( vv. 1- 3). They do not seek God or submit to God’s word or pray to God or trust Him concerning their daily lives.
The true atheist is either foolish or wicked — foolish because he ignores the evidences that God exists or wicked because he refuses to live by God’s truths. We become atheists in practice when we rely more on ourselves than on God. The fool mentioned here is someone who is aggressively perverse in his actions. To speak in direct defiance of God is utterly foolish according to the Bible. God Wants To Be Known
“Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches; 24: But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight,” says the Lord,” ( Jer 9: 23- 24).
People tend to admire three things: human wisdom, might ( strength), and riches. But God puts a higher priority on knowing him personally and living a life that reflects his justice and righteousness. What do you want people to admire most about you?
“Let him who glories glory in this.” We must not boast in worldly knowledge, human ability or earthly riches ( v. 23); instead we must exult and rejoice only in our personal relationship with the Lord and in His grace, which enables us to live righteously. All earthly values pale in significance when compared to God’s knowledge.
