IMO Sec- Gen In Nigeria For Maritime Summit
THE Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation ( IMO), Kitack Lim, is expected in Nigeria this weekend for the Nigeria International Maritime Summit 2022.
The summit scheduled to hold from today, November 20 – 22, 2022 will present an avenue to discuss regional policies and operational perspectives to Decarbonisation and Green House Gas Emissions in shipping.
The Federal Ministry of Transportation and its agencies, in collaboration with the organised maritime private sector, under the auspices of Nigeria International Maritime Summit ( NIMS), are hosting the event.
The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo said the Federal Government is committed to ensuring that Nigeria becomes a major destination for global maritime players.
The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, ( NIMASA), Dr Bashir Jamoh, said the visit by Lim, which is the first by an IMO secretary general to Nigeria in over 15 years, is a testament to the renewed confidence of the international maritime community in Nigeria.
