THE newly elected General Superintendent ( GS) of Assemblies of God Church Nigeria, Rev. Abel Amadi, at the weekend, said he would reposition the Church by bringing new innovations.

Amadi, the Owerri District Superintendent of the Church, will take over from Pastor Ejikeme Ejim, who has served the church for over 44 years and would be retiring, from next month.

The election of the new GS, which held at Evangel University campus, at Okpoto, in Ishielu Council of Ebonyi State during the 37th general council meeting of the church, also witnessed the retiring ceremony of the outgoing GS of the church, Pastor Ejim, and the General Treasurer of the church, Dr. Vincent Alaje.

Speaking, the former Governor of Ebonyi State and Senator Representing Ebonyi North, Dr . Sam Egwu, described retiring Assemblies of God Council officers as great men of God, who served the Church and humanity with humility, dedication and fear of God.

Egwu, who was the Chairman of the event, noted that the church had been lucky in terms of electing selfless leaders, stressing that the retiring council officers made commendable contributions to progress of the church and society in general.

He said: “If you look at the two retiring generals, you will agree with me that God has been with us ( Assemblies of God). I want to thank God for the life of our generals, who are retiring today, because they discharged the duties with humility, selflessness and fear of God. Today, we celebrate them, and pray God to continue to be with them as they retire after a glorious time with the church.”
